ROG has just announced their latest 2023 lineup of gaming laptops featuring the latest and greatest from AMD, Intel and NVIDIA. Aside from what’s under the hood, ROG unleashed new 18-inch ROG Nebula displays, the latest cooling innovations as well as refreshed designs to excite all you gamers out there.

Improved Nebula Displays and Intelligent Cooling grace every series

13th Gen Intel Core or AMD Ryzen Zen 4 CPUs as well as GeForce RTX 40 series GPUs will be featured in just about every gaming laptop in 2023. Setting ROG apart from the crowd is its Intelligent Cooling technology that lets you take full advantage of the latest hardware. After all, the most powerful CPUs and GPUs are meaningless without appropriate cooling.

ROG Intelligent Cooling: larger heatsinks and more fans

For 2023, the Tri-Fan Technology and full-width heatsink from the Flow X16 are introduced in more models to deliver excellent cooling, even in slim designs like the ROG Zephyrus M16. Scaling things up for even higher performance, the ROG Strix SCAR 16 and 18 feature a larger version of the full-width heatsink and Tri-Fan Technology to dissipate the immense heat from the latest 13th Gen Intel Core i9-13980HX and GeForce RTX 4090 Laptop GPU, the latter which can run at up to 175W TGP. Of course, Conductonaut Extreme is also present to maximize the thermal transfer from the hot chips to the cooling system.

ROG Nebula Display: 13-inch to 18-inch of visual supremacy

ROG Strix SCAR 18 Nebula Display

The ROG Nebula brand was created in 2022 to simplify the entire decision process when it comes to choosing a laptop display. As soon as you see ROG Nebula, you know it will be fast, vivid and bright. This year, ROG Nebula Displays are available across a wider range of ROG offerings, ranging from 13-inch to 18-inch displays, with the same set of strict requirements to ensure nothing but the most immersive visual experience across all ROG laptops.

ROG Strix defines laptop performance leadership

The ROG Strix SCAR family has always been the performance flagships of the ROG brand, and the 2023 models are no different. With new ROG Strix SCAR 16 and 18 models, the visual experience is further enhanced over the 2022 models with taller 16:10 displays, minimizing the thick lower bezels of last year’s models. The improvements don’t end there, as you can configure it with an insane QHD 240Hz ROG Nebula HDR display, featuring mini LED technology.

As mentioned earlier, you have Tri-Fan Technology and a full-width heatsink to quickly dissipate the heat from the Core i9-13980HX and GeForce RTX 4090 Laptop GPU. For those who do not need the absolute cutting edge from ROG, there’s also the ROG Strix G16 and G18 which can be specced out with similar hardware, but will probably come with slightly lower TGPs and non-ROG Nebula options as well, for a lower price.

Meanwhile for those who want an AMD option, the ROG Strix G17 and SCAR 17 are refreshed with the latest AMD Ryzen Zen 4 processors. Paired with the GeForce RTX 4090 Laptop GPU, gamers can take advantage of DLSS 3, NVENC with AV1 encoding and of course, superior raytracing performance, along with the sheer performance of their CPU of choice.

ROG Zephyrus defines portable gaming

Finally, ROG is bringing AniMe Matrix to a larger canvas! The 2023 ROG Zephyrus M16 will be the first series aside from the ROG Zephyrus G14 to feature AniMe Matrix, making it the first 16-incher to tout a fancy mini LED-infused lid. Speaking of mini LEDs, the ROG Zephyrus M16 can also come with the ROG Nebula HDR panel, boasting 1024 dimming zones, a 240Hz refresh rate and 100% DCI-P3 coverage. In short, you get an awesome view, on both sides of the Zephyrus M16’s lid.

Under the hood you get the beefy Tri-Fan Technology and a full-width heatsink, allowing the 2023 ROG Zephyrus M16 to run 25W higher than the 2022 model. That ensures that the Core i9-13900H and GeForce RTX 4090 Laptop GPU with Advanced Optimus gets plenty of room to stretch their legs and run rings around the competition.

ROG Zephyrus G14 2023

The other members of the ROG Zephyrus family are also maxed out for 2023. We have the new ROG Zephyrus G16 which makes the jump from AMD to Intel, coming with the Core i9-13900H and GeForce RTX 4070 Laptop GPU, with Advanced Optimus in tow. Meanwhile the ROG Zephyrus G14 drops the AMD graphics, and reverts to the green camp, sporting up to an GeForce RTX 4090 Laptop GPU with Advanced Optimus along with the latest 16-core AMD Zen 4 CPU.

ROG Zephyrus Duo 16

At the top of the stack, the ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 receives an upgrade with the latest AMD Zen 4 CPU and up to the GeForce RTX 4090 Laptop GPU. The iconic AAS Plus 2.0 hinge raises and moves the secondary ScreenPad Plus closer to the main 16-inch ROG Nebula HDR display. Aside from the hardware upgrade, the ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 will not be getting any other major changes.

ROG Flow defines versatile performance

ROG Flow X16 designer

ROG shook up the gaming laptop scene with the ROG Flow X13 back in 2021, bringing the world’s first 2-in-1 convertible gaming laptop. For 2022, the ROG Flow X16 provided gamers who loved the versatility of the ROG Flow X13, but needed an option with more screen to work comfortably. 2023 we will see a refresh of the entire ROG Flow lineup, from the ROG Flow X13 to the ROG Flow X16, to once again be the definition of a versatile gaming performance.

ROG Flow X13 2023

The main highlights this year are of course new hardware, as well as fresh designs for the 2023 ROG Flow X13 and Flow Z13. The ROG Flow X13 will come with up to a GeForce RTX 4070 Laptop GPU and the AMD Zen 4 CPU, providing a huge upgrade over the previous generation.

ROG Flow Z13 2023

Meanwhile the 2023 ROG Flow X13 will also come with an equally impressive upgrade to a GeForce RTX 4060 running at up to 65W, a massive 62% increase over last year’s Flow Z13 and its 40W max TGP. The contentious raised window on the back has also been pared back, making for a flush design that sits flat on a table. And last but not least, we have new 13-inch QHD 165Hz Nebula Displays for both the ROG Flow X13 and Flow Z13 for that perfect balance of speed, visual fidelity and everything in between.

ROG Flow X16 2023

The ROG Flow X16 gets a refresh to the latest Core i9-13900H and GeForce RTX 4070 Laptop GPU, but no new chassis design. The ROG Nebula HDR panel option here is shared with the ROG Zephyrus M16 and ROG Strix SCAR 16 – a QHD 240hz panel for the ultimate gaming experience. One thing worth mentioning is that the 2023 ROG Flow series will all feature Gorilla Glass DXC for lower reflections and enhanced durability, for that extra peace of mind and comfort when using your ROG Flow machines on the go.

ROG XG Mobile 2023

And of course. whenever we talk about the ROG Flow series, the ROG XG Mobile cannot be forgotten. The latest model features a 175W NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 Laptop GPU for the best gaming performance possible. The compact XG Mobile also adds a plethora of ports for you to complete your gaming setup.

The 2023 ROG lineup announced at CES 2023 is truly maxed out, and I am quite interested to see how the ROG Zephyrus G14 will handle a GeForce RTX 4090 in its compact chassis. I don’t doubt that ROG engineers have probably done a good job ensuring that it won’t hit its thermal limit immediately, but man, a 14-inch GeForce RTX 4090 laptop. What a time to be alive.
