SOC – Note 13 Pro 5G & Note 13 Pro+ 5G
We start off with a really tricky topic: Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 vs Dimensity 7200-Ultra. Both are the leading models for mainstream SOC for both leading SOC brands.
Both SOCs are powerful octa-core SOCs manufactured with 4nm technology. While the Dimensity has the faster 2.8GHz Cortex A715 CPU, occupying 2 of its octa packages, the Snapdragon has 4 powerful 2.4GHz Cortex A78 cores, half of its octa package. This allows the Dimensity to perform fast in pure speed scenarios, but the Snapdragon is better in a multi-core environment.
However, in the GPU department, the Dimensity comes with a faster Mali G610 MP4 GPU, among the fastest mid-range GPUs for smartphones.
RAM & Storage – Note 13 Pro 5G & Note 13 Pro+ 5G
In terms of RAM and storage, the Note 13 Pro 5G & Note 13 Pro+ 5G both offer 8GB+256GB and 12GB+512GB variants. While the 8GB variant is enough for any optimal experience, more RAM would always be good for better performance and future-proofing users from demanding apps. With the on-board AI on HyperOS around the corner, the more RAM users have, the better it would be.
Size and weight – Note 13 5G
Here is where the more affordable model shines. The Redmi Note 13 5G is among the slimmest and lightest among all models. Calling it the slimmest might be a bit exaggerated; the thickest model, Note 13 Pro+ 5G, compared to the Note 13 5G’s 7.6mm, would give a little difference when holding in hand. However, when it comes to the weight department, weighing only 174.5g would definitely show when compared to the 204.5g of the Note 13 Pro+ 5G model.
Display – Note 13 Pro+ 5G
The Note 13 Pro+ 5G has the most gorgeous display among all the models. A 6.67″ CrystalRes AMOLED, 2712×1220. It is capable of 120Hz refresh rate, 1920Hz PWM dimming, as bright as 1800 nits, has 12-bit Color with full DCI-P3 color gamut coverage. It is also certified by TÜV Rheinland with Low Blue Light on a hardware level, Circadian Friendly, and Flicker-Free. While sharing a lot of similarities with the non-plus model, the Note 13 Pro+ 5G is the only model with HDR 10+ capabilities, which is a big visual experience enhancer, especially for movie bingeing.
Camera – Note 13 Pro 5G & Note 13 Pro+ 5G
One of the major selling points of the Note 13 series is the extraordinary camera system; the Note 13 and Note 13 5G variants already carry a powerful 100MP main camera, which, based on our test, is an amazing shooter. But what really brings the flair is the camera on the high-end models. The 200MP camera not only provides a great on-paper pixel count, but it also allows the camera to zoom in digitally with still a great amount of pixels. Xiaomi calls this function the 4X Lossless Zoom, which, based on our sample, shows little to no distortion in the image outcome.
Battery – Note 13 Pro+ 5G
Interestingly, the non-plus version of the Note 13 Pro carries the largest battery at 5100 mAh, while the rest of the lineup packs 5000 mAh. Based on Xiaomi’s own data, we put the standby time and other details in the table below.
Note 13 | Note 13 5G | Note 13 Pro 5G | Note 13 Pro+ 5G
5000mAh | 5000mAh | 5100mAh | 5000mAh
standby time | 23 | 14 | 15 | 14 |
video playback | 20 | 18 | 16 | 19 |
gaming time | NA | NA | 11 | 12 |
music playback | 174 | 139 | 136 | 113 |
Navigating | 12 | 11 | ||
Quick Charge | 33W Fast charging | 33W Fast charging | 67W Turbo charging | 120W Hyper charging |
0-50% | 29 | 16 | 17 | 12 |
0-100% | 70 | 46 | 44 | 19 |
While the numbers seem to lean towards the lesser battery having to perform better, it has more to do with the SOC efficiency handling tasks. Also, the Pro+ variant comes with 120W hyper charging capability, which takes about 19 minutes to fully charge the device.
Security – Note 13, Note 13 Pro 5G & Note 13 Pro+ 5G
With a surprise swing, all of the Note 13 series feature similar security features, with the exception of the Note 13 5G, which uses a side fingerprint sensor while others feature an in-screen fingerprint sensor. While some may prefer the actual hardware feedback on the side fingerprint sensor, the in-screen fingerprint is technologically superior.
Network – Note 13 Pro+ 5G
It is easy to remove the Note 13 from this category of comparison, where all the rest feature 5G in their support network. But when observed properly, it is easy to notice only the Pro+ variant features Wifi 6 / Wifi AX.
Navigation – Note 13 Pro 5G & Note 13 Pro+ 5G
For those who have used Xiaomi smartphones before, they would know its GPS leaves a lot to be desired, so it is a good idea to get as much support band as possible. The Note 13 Pro 5G & Note 13 Pro+ 5G both support 6 bands of positioning satellites, which include GPS (US), Beidou (China), Galileo (EU), Glonass (Russia), QZSS (Japan), and AGNSS (Assisted Network).
Audio – Note 13, Note 13 Pro 5G & Note 13 Pro+ 5G
While all Note 13 series feature good audio setups for a smartphone with all of them supporting Dolby Atmos that produce great spatial audio. However, the only outlier is the Note 13 5G, which is missing the dual-speaker function. This would make show binging less enjoyable, but it can be overcome with wireless
This is would make show binging less enjoyable, but can be overcome with wireless earbuds.
Water & Dust Resistant – Note 13 Pro+ 5G
One of the great things about the Note 13 series is its durability. All of the Note 13 smartphones comes with IP54, good enough to handle your occasional dust and drizzle. But what stand out the most is the Plus variant comes with IP68, which mean it can be submerged in fresh water for a short period of time.
Other Sensors and features – Note 13 Pro 5G & Note 13 Pro+ 5G
Finally, this might not be the most obvious feature, but the Note 13 Pro 5G & Note 13 Pro+ 5G both carries X-axis linear motor, which would give user more realistic vibration feedback.
