Thanks to Apple, we have to shop for chargers. The next charger I picked up for my iPhone 15 Pro is the Rocoren 65W GaN Pro Fast Charger. In case you missed it, I have previously reviewed the Rocoren 140W GaN Fast Charger as well. While the brand Rocoren may not be as well-known as, say, Ugreen, the 140W one has proven to be really solid for its price, so I picked up this one as my bedside charger, since my iPhone can’t make use of 140W charging anyway.
What’s Good?
Compact and lightweight
There are plenty of laptops out there that can now support USB-PD charging, but still come with a large-ish power brick with non-detachable cables. Case in point: the ASUS Vivobook 16. Replacing it with the Rocoren 65W GaN Pro Fast Charger will save a ton of space in your bag, while also giving you the option to charge two other devices at the same time. Once again, I think Rocoren missed an opportunity by not designing the plug to be detachable to make the Rocoren 65W GaN Pro Fast Charger even smaller, but hey, less moving parts means less chances of failure, right? If that’s a concern to you, you can also get the EU plug version which will not have the “wings” that the UK plug version has.
Supports most devices, including the ROG Ally
Compatibility is very important for third-party chargers. After all, they have to work with devices made by other manufacturers. The Rocoren 65W GaN Pro Fast Charger comes with a pretty extensive list, ranging from the ubiquitous USB-PD 3.0 and PPS standards, to Qualcomm’s QuickCharge 3.0, HUAWEI’s Fast Charging Protocol (FCP) and Samsung’s Adaptive Fast Charge (AFC) standards. It also supports the ROG Ally‘s full 30W Turbo mode, which is something that might be of interest to ROG Ally owners looking to replace the included power adapter with one that’s more portable and affordable. Notably, it lacks support USB-PD 3.1, but since it outputs less than 100W, there’s no reason for it to support the higher voltages under the USB-PD 3.1 standard.

The above are what you’ll see if you connect multiple devices to the Rocoren 65W GaN Pro Fast Charger. 45W is just nice for some low-powered laptops like the aforementioned ASUS Vivobook 16, making this a great charger for both your phone and your laptop at the same time. Even when stepping up to premium, higher-end machines like the Zenbook 14 OLED (2024), I noticed that in everyday browsing or general productivity with the Microsoft suite, 45W is still enough to feed the Zenbook 14 OLED, while slowly charging up the battery. For those interested to charge their multiple phones and tablets at the same time, I think 65W is truly the Goldilocks output. The charger is compact, yet provides enough power to juice up your multiple mobile devices quickly.

Rocoren 65W GaN Pro Fast Charger — should you buy this?
For just RM59.99 (or RM39.99, when I bought it from Lazada), it is definitely going to be a great addition to your array of GaN chargers. If you own a more power-hungry laptop like the ROG Zephyrus series, then maybe you would want to consider the Rocoren 140W GaN Fast Charger, but for my ultraportable ASUS Zenbook, this is way more compact while still delivering sufficient power to keep both my laptop and phone juiced up when I need it. But I think where the Rocoren 65W GaN Pro Fast Charger truly shines is when it comes to charging multiple mobile devices. 65W split into 45W and 20W allows both your iPad and iPhone to charge up quickly, without having to waste more plug points for more chargers.
