Acer’s Computex Gaming Drop Is Massive
Acer just dropped a five-product mobile gaming lineup at Computex 2026, and the flagship Predator Helios 18 AI is the most powerful gaming laptop the company has ever built. iF Design Award 2026 winner, Intel Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 Laptop GPU, and 256 GB of memory if you want to go all out. The Malaysian gaming market has been waiting for an RTX 50-series flagship Predator, and this is it.

The lineup also includes the Acer Nitro 16 (first Acer gaming laptop with AMD’s Ryzen 9 9955HX3D), the Acer Nitro Blaze Link streaming handheld, the Predator Aethon 750 TKL keyboard, and the Predator Robust Plus Backpack.
Predator Helios 18 AI — The Flagship
The Predator Helios 18 AI (PH18-I71) is purpose-built for enthusiast gamers and esports competitors. The 18-inch Mini LED WQUXGA display is the centerpiece — 3840×2400 resolution, 1000 nits HDR brightness, Calman Verified with Delta E<2, 100% DCI-P3 coverage, and Dual-Mode Display that switches between 4K at 120 Hz (stunning visuals) and FHD at 240 Hz (ultra-smooth gameplay).

Under the hood:
- Intel Core Ultra 9 processor 290HX Plus
- Up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 Laptop GPU with 24 GB GDDR7 VRAM
- Up to 256 GB DDR5 memory
- Up to 6 TB total storage (3x PCIe Gen 5 NVMe SSD slots)
- 99 Wh battery
Cooling: Dual 6th Gen Predator AeroBlade 3D Fans, each packing 100 of the world’s thinnest metal fan blades (0.05mm). 20% more airflow over generic plastic fans. Vector heat pipes and liquid metal thermal grease.
Audio: Acer’s patented Predator Vox technology — a six-speaker system with internal tube structure for high-fidelity nearfield audio, waveform consistency, and projection without distortion at high volumes.
Connectivity: Intel Killer DoubleShot Pro (Wi-Fi 7 BE1750x + Ethernet E5000B), two Thunderbolt 5 Type-C ports, three USB-A, HDMI 2.1, SD card reader, RJ-45.
Build: Per-key RGB keyboard with Predator MagKey 4.0 mechanical switches, dynamic RGB lighting, FHD IR webcam with PurifiedView AI. 3.5 kg, 400.96 x 307.9 x 17.3-29.55 mm.
This is the first Predator laptop with Thunderbolt 5 — for Malaysian streamers and content creators running multi-monitor setups, the bandwidth difference vs Thunderbolt 4 is meaningful.
Acer Nitro 16 — AMD-Powered Mobile Gaming

The Acer Nitro 16 (AN16-A91) is the first Acer gaming laptop powered by up to an AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX3D processor. 2nd Gen AMD 3D V-Cache delivers top-notch mobile gaming performance, with the 9955HX3D being AMD’s flagship gaming chip for laptops.

Key specs:
- Up to AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX3D (or 9955HX)
- Up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Laptop GPU (12 GB GDDR7)
- Up to 16-inch WQXGA (2560×1600) display, 16:10, up to DCI-P3 100%, up to 240 Hz, 3 ms response
- Up to 32 GB DDR5 5600 MT/s
- Up to 2 TB total storage (2x PCIe Gen 4 NVMe)
- Dual-fan, quad-intake, quad-exhaust cooling with vector heat pipes
- 92 Wh battery
- Intel Killer Ethernet E3100G + Wi-Fi 6E RZ616, Bluetooth 5.3+
- USB 4 Type-C, 2x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A, USB 2.0, HDMI 2.1, microSD, RJ-45
- 4-zone RGB keyboard, Acer NitroSense utility
- 2.5 kg, 356.78 x 275.5 x 22.05-27.95 mm

The 3D V-Cache on the 9955HX3D is the differentiator. AMD’s stacked cache tech delivers more L3 cache directly on the CPU die, which dramatically improves gaming performance in cache-sensitive titles. This is the AMD equivalent of Intel’s high-end gaming chips, and pairing it with RTX 5070 Ti makes for a serious mobile gaming machine.
Acer Nitro Blaze Link — Streaming Handheld
The Acer Nitro Blaze Link (GN772) is a new category of device — a streaming-first handheld that extends the reach of an existing PC gaming setup without local processing. It pairs with the Predator Helios 18 AI or Nitro 16 to stream games from the host PC.

Key specs:
- 7-inch WUXGA (1920×1200) 5-point multi-touch touchscreen
- Linux (Debian) OS
- 16 GB LPDDR4, 8 GB eMMC
- Wi-Fi 6 80 MHz
- 1-cell 18 Wh battery
- 464 grams (ultra-light)
- Dual 2W speakers
- Full controls: A/B/X/Y, D-Pad, L/R bumpers and triggers, joysticks
- Software: Sunshine + Moonlight (the standard open-source game streaming stack)
This is a cheaper, more accessible take on the Steam Deck / ROG Ally / Legion Go concept — except it doesn’t run games locally. It streams from your existing PC. The 464g weight and 7-inch form factor make it a comfortable “in another room” gaming device.

For Malaysian gamers with a desktop in one room and a bed/living room setup, this is a smart way to extend the existing rig. Pricing TBD.

Our Take
The Predator Helios 18 AI is the Malaysian gaming laptop to watch this year. The combination of RTX 5090, Intel Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus, 256 GB RAM ceiling, and 6 TB storage is a no-compromise enthusiast machine. The Calman Verified Mini LED display with Dual-Mode 4K/120Hz and FHD/240Hz switching is the real standout — this is the kind of display tech that was previously only on ASUS ROG and Razer Blade.
Pricing will be the deciding factor. The Helios line traditionally lands 15-20% below ASUS ROG equivalents, so expect competitive positioning vs the ROG Strix SCAR 18 and MSI Raider.
The Acer Nitro 16 with Ryzen 9 9955HX3D is the more interesting mainstream play. AMD’s 3D V-Cache has consistently outperformed equivalent Intel chips in cache-sensitive games. Pairing it with RTX 5070 Ti at the typical Nitro price point (RM 6,000-8,000 in Malaysia) would be a strong value proposition for gamers who don’t need flagship specs.
The Nitro Blaze Link is the wildcard. Streaming handhelds are a niche product, but the 464g weight and Sunshine/Moonlight compatibility make it a sensible choice for households with multiple gamers sharing one PC. If Acer prices it aggressively (sub-USD 300), it could carve out a real category.
The Aethon 750 TKL keyboard is a solid magnetic switch competitor to the Wooting 80HE. The 8,000 Hz polling rate is best-in-class. Malaysian esports players should pay attention.
The backpack is straightforward but practical — the charging cable pass-through is a feature that should be on every gaming backpack.
