New ROG Zephyrus G14, G15, Duo 16 and Flow X13 announced from RM6599!

ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) Malaysia officially announced local pricings and hardware configurations for the all-new series of 2022 ROG AMD Gaming laptops ranging from ROG Flow X13, ROG Zephyrus Duo 16, ROG Zephyrus G15, ROG Zephyrus G14. These new 2022 gaming laptop models are now available in Malaysia market, fully equipped with newly updated laptop components such as AMD Ryzen™ 6000 Series processors, up to NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 3080 Ti GPUs, and AMD Radeon™ RX 6000S Series graphics to deliver the best performance for our Malaysian PC gamers.

ROG Flow X13 (2022) — upgraded with Ryzen 7 6800HS

The ROG Flow X13 this year packs higher performance, with a new Ryzen 7 6800HS processor. This also entails upgrades to LPDDR5-6400 and PCIe 4.0 storage. Aside from those major upgrades, this year’s ROG Flow X13 is virtually identical to last year’s model. You get the same 360-degree hinge, same 13.4-inch 16:10 display options: 4K 60Hz or FHD 120Hz and the same portable 1.3kg kerb weight. Of course, the compatibility with the ROG XG Mobile is retained.

Along with the refresh for the laptop, ROG Malaysia is also offering an AMD-powered ROG XG Mobile for the Team Red fans out there. The ROG XG Mobile 2022 features an Radeon RX 6850M XT GPU running up to 165W. This is up from last year’s GeForce RTX 3080 which features a 150W TGP. The raised power demands also means that the new ROG XG Mobile needs beefier power delivery — thus entailing a new 330W power supply and a slight increase in girth and weight. You also get updated support for HDMI 2.1 and 2.5GbE.

The ROG Flow X13 is available in two configurations, with the ROG XG Mobile only available as a bundle. However ROG Malaysia did share that they will be offering the ROG XG Mobile as a separate purchase, so if you are feeling hopeful, you can definitely get the variant without the ROG XG Mobile and get an ROG XG Mobile later down the line.

ROG Flow X13 (2022) Specs and Price in Malaysia

For the RM6599 option, you are getting half the RAM and storage, as well as a slightly less powerful GPU under the hood. However for most people considering the ROG Flow series, the built-in discrete graphics probably is of little relevance. For the full-spec ROG Flow X13, you will be looking at paying an additional RM7400, netting you several upgrades as well as a free gaming mouse and the ROG XG Mobile (2022). Your call.

ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 (2022) — a more seamlesss dual-display experience

As we enter the third generation of the ROG Zephyrus Duo family, ROG decided to shake things up a little. While the ASUS Zenbook Pro Duo 14 OLED features a fancy new AAS Ultra design, ROG refined the AAS Plus system, and called it the AAS Plus 2.0. So instead of raising the main display as well, the AAS Plus 2.0 raises and moves the secondary ScreenPad Plus display towards the main display for a more seamless view.

This is also aided by slimmer lower bezels on the main 16-inch screen with a 16:10 aspect ratio. Speaking of which, the new main display is now available in two flavors, ROG Nebula HDR and ROG Nebula Dual Spec. The first is the best mini LED gaming display, with 4608 mini LEDs spread over 512 dimming zones, giving you an insane contrast ratio of 100 000:1, with a peak brightness of 1100 nits. Haloing is also reduced by 25% thanks to a proprietary Nebula HDR engine.

The ROG Nebula Dual Spec panel is no less interesting, with the unique capability of switching between 4K 120Hz and FHD 240Hz modes, giving you the best of both worlds in a single panel. Both displays are Pantone Validated and can display the full DCI-P3 gamut, making them perfect for content creation, consumption and of course, gaming.

For performance, you get the same two choices, with either a GeForce RTX 3080 Ti or GeForce RTX 3070 Ti packed in its chassis. For the rest of the spec differences, check out the table below.

ROG Zephyrus G14 (2022) — an upgraded AniMe Matrix panel!

The ROG Zephyrus G14 debuted the AniMe Matrix, changing the whole idea of a laptop’s design being static in one fell swoop. This year, ROG upgraded the AniMe Matrix feature with more CNC-milled holes and mini LEDs. The ROG Zephyrus G14 (2022) features a whopping 14969 holes and 1449 mini LEDs to let you apply deeper customizations to reflect your own personal tastes. It can even show you notifications and let you play mini-games on it.

The actual display panel has also been upgraded, with a new 16:10 ROG Nebula display that gives you more screen real estate in the same 14-inch form factor. We have the same QHD 120Hz capabilities, as well as the same 100% DCI-P3 and Pantone Validated colors from last year. Performance has been bumped up as well, with a new all-AMD configuration that combines the AMD Ryzen 7 6800HS processor with up to the Radeon RX 6800S graphics. ROG has bumped up the graphics power limit quite a bit over last year’s GeForce RTX 3060, the engineers adopted a new vapor chamber cooling system that provides for more effective cooling in the confines of the ROG Zephyrus G14’s compact design.

ROG Zephyrus G15 (2022) — performance upgrades in the same design

This year’s ROG Zephyrus G15 looks pretty much identical to last year’s, but we have some performance upgrades to feature the latest Ryzen 7 6800HS and up the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti graphics. Why didn’t ROG replace the display here with the ROG Nebula panel from the virtually identical Zephyrus M16 puzzles me, but I guess it’s to keep the price more reasonable, as the ROG Zephyrus G15 starts from just RM7999, quite significantly less than the Zephyrus M16.
