ASUS Zenbook Launch 2022

2022 ASUS Zenbook Series Grand Launch debuts four new innovative Zenbooks in Malaysia!

ASUS Malaysia has just announced its 2022 Zenbook premium laptop lineup today at the 2022 ASUS Zenbook Series Grand Launch. The event was heavily centered around the space theme, celebrating the launch of the ASUS Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition.

The highlights of the event, aside from the ASUS Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition (UX5401Z), are the powerful Zenbook Pro 14 Duo OLED (UX8402), the innovative Zenbook Pro 16X OLED (UX7602) and the sleek ultraportable Zenbook 14 OLED (UX3402). ASUS is going beyond innovation with flagship performance powered by the next-gen Intel® processors, thoughtful features and modern, elegant designs to enable inspired creativity among discerning, on-the-go users.

Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition

Featuring a unique space-inspired design, the Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition aims to inspire creativity as it opens your minds to the cosmos. The Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition is a commemoration of the ASUS P6300, which spent 600 days on the Mir Space Station with defect. As such, you will see plenty of space-themed elements peppered across the design, from the lid to the palm rest area, and even the bottom side.

Setting the Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition apart from the rest of the flock is the ZenVision display, that resides on the lid behind the main 14″ 2.8K 90Hz OLED display. This is fully customizable, giving you the ability to display QR codes, custom images or just memes. Make it yours.

Performance is courtesy of a high performance 12th Gen Intel Core H-series processor, with powerful IceCool cooling to keep it running at full performance for extended periods. Coupled with 16GB of quick-yet-efficient LPDDR5 memory and up to 1TB of storage, the Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition is ready to tackle any challenge you have ahead of you. Speaking of challenges, did you know the Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition is US Space Systems Command Standard SMC-S-016A compliant? It’s literally a space-grade laptop!

Prices start from RM5599 for the Core i5-12500H variant with 16GB RAM and 512GB storage, while the range-topping Core i7-12700H version, with the same amount of RAM and 1TB of storage, comes in at RM6499.

Zenbook Pro 14 Duo OLED

The Zenbook Pro 14 Duo OLED is the latest installment in the storied Zenbook Pro Duo series. While the Zenbook Pro 14 Duo OLED adopts a smaller 14.5″ display than its elder brethren, the Zenbook Pro Duo 15 OLED, it lays claim to the title of being the world’s first 14.5-inch 2.8K 120 Hz OLED laptop. While the display is smaller, it makes up for it by being twice as quick.

ASUS also worked on the ScreenPad Plus, making it larger, brighter and also faster. The 12.7″ secondary display now has a peak brightness 500 nits and an updated refresh rate of 120Hz, just like the main display. It is also more vibrant — now capable of 100% DCI-P3. The second display is now also propped up higher at a 12-degree angle for a more ergonomic viewing experience. Another benefit of the raised secondary display is enhanced cooling, thanks to the AAS Ultra design.

The improved cooling combined with the IceCool Plus technology allows the Zenbook Pro 14 Duo OLED to accommodate a combined TDP of 85W, with an Intel Core i7-12700H and GeForce RTX 3050 Ti under the hood. 16GB RAM comes standard, along with 512GB of PCIe 4.0 SSD storage. All of that comes together to make the Zenbook Pro 14 Duo OLED the most powerful compact dual-screen creator laptop out there. It’s also Intel Evo certified, promising one of the best mobile computing experiences money can buy.

Speaking of money, all of the innovation packed into this machine doesn’t come cheap. The Zenbook Pro 14 Duo OLED will set you back a cool RM8999.

Elevating performance even further is the Zenbook Pro 16X OLED. This is ASUS’ all-rounder creator laptop, featuring high performance, a sharp and vibrant 4K OLED display and a premium all-metal chassis CNC-machined from aerospace-grade 6000-series aluminum alloy. It also features AAS Ultra, but we see it take on a new role here.

Unlike previous iterations of AAS, the Zenbook Pro 16X OLED’s keyboard is raised. With an ergonomic tilt of 7-degrees, the Zenbook Pro 16X OLED takes the strain away from your wrists, letting you craft your written masterpieces in comfort for extended periods. Interestingly enough, ASUS implemented the world’s first White-RGB ASUS Intelligent Lighting System here as well, making it not just feel great under your fingers, but also serve as a visual treat for your eyes. There are functional ways to use the keyboard backlighting, like for notifications and stuff, but we all know that RGB is meant for bling.

Making a surprise entrance is the new ASUS Dial, which is now significantly slimmer than the physical ASUS Dial in the ProArt Studiobooks of yore. It features a physical clicker and a glass surface, and it is integrated beside the haptic trackpad, unlike the DialPad featured in the Vivobook Pros that were added into the trackpad and ended up being slightly annoying at times when all you want to do is mouse around.

ASUS also worked on delivering maximal performance here out of the Core i7-12700H and GeForce RTX 3060, with the Zenbook Pro 16X OLED’s cooling system capable of handling a combined TDP of 140W. This is thanks to a vapor chamber system and powerful fans which come together to comprise the fancily named IceCool Pro cooling system.

With 16GB RAM and 1TB of storage, the Zenbook Pro 16X OLED comes in at a rather eye-watering RM11,999. More RAM would definitely have been welcome, considering its status as an elite content creator workhorse.

Zenbook 14 OLED

But wait, there’s more. Delivering a premium, ultraportable experience is the Zenbook 14 OLED. Featuring the latest 12th Gen Intel Core P-series processors, the Zenbook 14 OLED is probably going to hit the sweet spot in terms of performance-efficiency for most users, especially in its weight class. Don’t just take it from me though — Intel deemed the Zenbook 14 OLED to be capable of serving up an excellent mobile computing experience, granting it the Intel Evo certification.

Similar to the Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition, you have a 14″ 2.8K 90Hz OLED display, but you do not have the secondary ZenVision panel here. Instead, you have a fresh new design for the lid, inspired by Japanese Kintsugi art featuring the new ASUS monogram logo. With two new colors: Aqua Celadon and Ponder Blue, the Zenbook 14 OLED’s design is subtle, yet eye-catching enough to distance it from the sea of plain monochrome ultraportable laptops out there.

The Zenbook 14 OLED is the most affordable of the bunch, coming in at RM4399 for the Core i5-1240P variant with 512GB storage. If you want a faster processor and more storage, prepare to shell out RM5599 for the Core i7-1260P version with 1TB storage.
