Aside from the fancy 3D OLED options, ASUS also announced two more mainstream ASUS Zenbooks at CES 2023, with the ASUS Zenbook 14X OLED (UX3404) and 14 Flip OLED (UP3404) arriving with the latest 13th Gen Intel Core processors, 2.8K OLED displays and fresh new designs with new colors and the ASUS monogram on the lid. Without further ado, let’s get right into it.
ASUS Zenbook 14X OLED (UX3404): thin and light packing a punch
The 2022 ASUS Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition featured a cool ASUS ZenVision display on the lid, but this year ASUS is dropping the gimmicks and going all out, upsizing the performance and visuals. The ASUS Zenbook 14X OLED (UX3404) can be equipped with the 13th Gen Intel Core i9-13900H and the GeForce RTX 3050 graphics for effortless creation performance. The display has been bumped up to a 14.5-inch 16:10 2.8K 120Hz OLED HDR panel, taken straight from the Zenbook Pro 14 Duo.
Keeping the lights on is a big 70WHr battery that supports USB-C Easy Charge, capable of juicing up with anything from an old 5V charger to the latest 100W USB-PD chargers. All of that is crammed into a 16.9mm thin chassis that tips the scales at just 1.5kg, which is a really impressive feat. The elegant Inkwell Gray and premium Sandstone Beige finishes, the latter with a new PEO coating that not only looks fantastic, but also adds durability with an 8H hardness that’s wear resistant to keep your ASUS Zenbook 14X OLED (UX3404) looking great for longer.
ASUS Zenbook 14 Flip OLED (UP3404): sustainable and versatile elegance
For those who prefer convertible laptops, the ASUS Zenbook 14 Flip OLED (UP3404) packs the latest 13th Gen Intel Core processors into a sleek 15.9mm slim and 1.5kg light design that’s also both sustainable and durable. The ASUS Zenbook 14 Flip OLED features 30% post-consumer plastics, 100% recyclable packaging and meets MIL-STD-810H standards with 26 individual tests to ensure that your laptop will last longer, reducing waste in the long term.
The display of the ASUS Zenbook 14 Flip OLED will seem pretty familiar, being a 14-inch 16:10 2.8K 90Hz OLED touch panel that has made an appearance in quite a number of ASUS Zenbooks and Vivobooks in 2022. As a 2-in-1 convertible, you get touch support along with support for the optional ASUS Pen 2.0 MPP 2.0 stylus. The ASUS Zenbook 14 Flip OLED (UP3404) comes in two sophisticated finishes: Ponder Blue and Foggy Silver, with the ASUS monogram motif dominating the lid.
The ASUS Zenbook 14X OLED (UX3404) surely looks like a rather interesting option for creators who don’t need the most powerful hardware, but can appreciate its portability and fantastic display. Meanwhile I have mixed feelings about the Zenbook 14 Flip OLED (UP3404). A 1.5kg convertible will tire you out really quickly if you try to use it as a tablet, and I shudder to think of the consequences of it falling on my face as I fall asleep watching Netflix…
