Xiaomi Is Building The Whole-House Smart Home Play

Xiaomi isn’t dipping its toe into Malaysian smart home appliances — it’s jumping in with both feet. The company has just rolled out the Mijia Air Conditioner GentleAir, Mijia Refrigerator Side-by-Side 715L, Mijia Front Load Washer Dryer series, and the Xiaomi Robot Vacuum H50 series, all under its new Smart Tech Appliances banner. Together, they represent a major step in Xiaomi’s “Human × Car × Home” smart ecosystem strategy, and they’re priced aggressively enough to put pressure on established home appliance brands in Malaysia.

The throughline is integration. Every product in the lineup works with the Xiaomi Home app, which means users can monitor device status, receive notifications, customise settings remotely, and push over-the-air updates from anywhere. Compatible models also support Google Assistant or Alexa, so voice control works regardless of which ecosystem a user is already invested in. For Malaysian households that are used to managing ten different apps for ten different appliances, the promise of a single control surface is a real selling point.

Mijia Air Conditioner GentleAir: Cooling Without The Harsh Draft

The Mijia Air Conditioner GentleAir is built around a simple insight: most air conditioners push cold air too aggressively, creating the uncomfortable “directly blasted” feeling that leads to thermostat wars in Malaysian households. The GentleAir uses an innovative soft air vane that disperses strong airflow at the source, replacing harsh direct drafts with a gentler, more even breeze. Three dedicated airflow modes — Halo Flow, Canopy Flow, and Carpet Flow — let users tune the cooling to different rooms and scenarios.

Performance hasn’t been sacrificed for comfort. The GentleAir supports 30-second fast cooling and 60-second fast heating, with Turbo Mode for instant maximum output. Four-way swing airflow adapts the cooling direction for more flexible coverage. Mijia AI Energy Saving mode dynamically adjusts the operating frequency based on real-time conditions, improving energy efficiency by up to 24.5% depending on the model — meaningful savings given Malaysia’s tropical climate and high electricity costs.

The AC integrates with the Xiaomi Home app for remote power control, fan speed adjustment, and mode switching. The display brightness adapts automatically to ambient light, which is a small but thoughtful touch for bedroom installations. Google Assistant support rounds out the voice control options.

Mijia Air Conditioner GentleAir prices (available 12 June):

  • 1.0HP: RRP RM2,699 / Promo RM1,599
  • 1.5HP: RRP RM2,999 / Promo RM1,799

Mijia Refrigerator Side-by-Side 715L: Big Capacity, Smart Freshness

The Mijia Refrigerator Side-by-Side 715L is built for Malaysian families that buy groceries in bulk. The 635L net capacity breaks down into 394L of refrigeration and 241L of freezing, with four storage layers and 18 versatile compartments. The modern styling is designed to blend into contemporary kitchen aesthetics rather than dominate them.

Freshness is handled by Ag⁺ Fresh technology, which reduces odours and bacteria such as E. coli throughout the entire fridge and freezer. Dual inverter technology ensures energy-efficient performance with rapid, even surround cooling that maintains consistent temperatures. Frost-free air cooling means no manual defrosting, which is a small but welcome quality-of-life improvement for any household that’s wrestled with a frozen fridge compartment at some point.

Smart features include remote control via the Xiaomi Home app, an exterior LED touch panel, and support for both Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa for hands-free voice commands. Temperature and mode adjustments can be made from anywhere, which is useful for households that want to pre-cool the fridge before grocery runs.

Mijia Front Load Washer Dryer 9kg: Hygiene-First Laundry

The Mijia Front Load Washer Dryer 9kg is built around a 525mm drum that provides more tumbling space and stronger centrifugal force for cleaner clothes. The dedicated hygiene mode combines high-temperature steam and hot water to eliminate 99.99% of bacteria and 100% of mites — useful for Malaysian households with allergy sufferers, young children, or both. The steam function can be added to selected wash cycles for extra sanitisation.

There are over 30 wash programs, including a 15-minute quick wash for everyday loads. Smart dry control uses 3D airflow and high-precision sensors to stop the drying cycle automatically once clothes reach the optimal condition, which helps prevent overheating and keeps fabrics soft.

The washer-dryer is managed through the Xiaomi Home app, where users can remotely control and monitor laundry cycles, customise settings with the My Time program, and save personalised preferences for one-tap access. Over-the-air updates continuously add new features and refine wash programs — meaning the machine gets smarter over time rather than going obsolete. For households that prefer a washer-only option, the Mijia Front Load Washer 9kg delivers the same drum size, hygiene mode, and wash programs without the drying function.

Xiaomi Robot Vacuum H50 Series: Self-Cleaning, Self-Emptying

The Xiaomi Robot Vacuum H50 is the entry point in the new robot vacuum lineup, delivering 10,000Pa of suction power, dual rotary mops spinning at up to 180rpm, and an advanced LDS laser navigation system that maps the home in full 360°. Carpet detection automatically lifts the mop pads by 10mm to avoid wet streaks, and a 20mm obstacle-crossing capability handles thresholds and uneven floors without intervention.

The all-in-one base station is the real highlight. It integrates automatic mop pad washing and dust collection into a single streamlined system, freeing users from daily manual upkeep. The 4L clean water tank supports cleaning areas up to 240m² in a single session, and the disposable dust bag lasts up to 75 days before replacement — both of which are meaningful for busy households that don’t want to think about their robot vacuum every day.

The Xiaomi Robot Vacuum H50 Pro steps things up with 15,000Pa of suction, dual robotic arms that extend outward to reach edges and tight corners, and a millimetre-level obstacle avoidance system. The H50 Pro’s all-in-one base station adds hot-air drying to the dust collection and mop washing, making the hands-free experience even more complete. Both vacuums work with the Xiaomi Home app for remote scheduling and monitoring, and both support Google Assistant and Alexa for voice control.

Pricing And Availability

All products are available from 5 June 2026 onwards, with the air conditioner and refrigerator specifically from 12 June. They’re sold at Xiaomi stores nationwide, on mi.com, and through official Xiaomi stores on Shopee, Lazada, and TikTok Shop. Promo pricing applies during the launch window.

Our Take

Xiaomi’s smart home appliance push in Malaysia is the most aggressive we’ve seen from the brand yet. The promo prices — RM1,599 for a 1.0HP smart air conditioner, RM2,799 for a 715L side-by-side fridge, RM1,199 for a 9kg washer-dryer, RM1,299 for a self-emptying robot vacuum — undercut most established appliance brands by 30-50%. For Malaysian households building out a smart home on a budget, this launch makes the case that you no longer need to choose between ecosystem and price.

The real differentiator, though, is integration. A side-by-side fridge that talks to a robot vacuum that talks to an air conditioner that talks to your phone is something most established appliance brands can’t offer, because their products don’t talk to each other. Xiaomi can. Whether that integration is actually useful in daily life — versus being a gimmick — depends on how the Xiaomi Home app evolves, but the foundation is now in place.

The Mijia Air Conditioner GentleAir is the standout product for the Malaysian climate. The soft airflow design addresses a genuine complaint with conventional air conditioners, and the 24.5% energy savings is meaningful in a country where monthly electricity bills can easily climb above RM300 for households running air conditioning daily. The promo price of RM1,599 for a 1.0HP unit with smart features is hard to argue with.

For the robot vacuums, the 75-day dust bag and 240m² water tank capacity address the two most common reasons people stop using their robot vacuums — frequent emptying and constant water refills. The H50 Pro’s 15,000Pa suction puts it in the same conversation as premium brands like Roborock and Dreame, but at a significantly lower promo price.

If you’ve been waiting to build out a connected home without the usual premium tax, this Xiaomi lineup is the most compelling entry point in Malaysia right now.
