New ROG Xbox Ally X and Xbox Ally coming: new Handheld Compatibility Program and AI-powered gaming features

ROG Malaysia has announced that its latest gaming handhelds: the ROG Xbox Ally and the ROG Xbox Ally X, are scheduled to launch on 16 October 2025 in multiple markets, including Malaysia. The new models will be on display for the first time at Gamescom 2025. The devices will be fully playable at the ROG booth, where attendees can try out a selection of games including Hogwarts Legacy, Lies of P, and Roblox.

The Xbox team collaborated with ROG to develop the new ROG Xbox Ally series and has also been working with game developers to optimize titles for them. A new Handheld Compatibility Program has been created to ensure users have a good experience from day one. Games will be labeled with either “Handheld Optimized” for full compatibility or “Mostly Compatible” for those that may need minor adjustments, taking the guesswork out of equation.

In addition, Xbox is introducing an advanced shader delivery feature that preloads a game’s shaders during the download process. This is intended to allow supported games to launch more quickly, run more smoothly, and use less battery on the first play. The ROG Xbox Ally X also includes an integrated NPU, which will enable future AI features like Automatic Super Resolution (Auto SR) to improve visuals and framerates and AI-powered highlights for quick shareable moments.
