Cooler Master Mobius 120P Fan

9

The Cooler Master Mobius Fan, known for its Ring Blade Design and superior performance, offers a significant upgrade over the Spectrum fan, delivering improved temperature control and noise reduction.

Positives
  • Superior temperature control
  • Innovative Ring Blade Design
  • High airflow and air pressure compare to CM Spectrum Fan.
NEgatives
  • Slightly higher initial cost

The Cooler Master Mobius Fan series, introduced in 2022, aims to be a premium offering among the brand’s fan lineup. Its standout features include the innovative Ring Blade Design (RBD), loop dynamic bearing, and advanced vibration dampening technology.

In this review, we’ll delve into the Mobius White ARGB fan’s key highlights. We’ll also compare it to the Cooler Master Spectrum fan, a popular choice bundled with many Cooler Master air coolers, to assess if it’s a worthwhile upgrade.

The Mobius Fan family

The Mobius family, initially launched in 2022, consisted of a standard base model and an ARGB variant, both in a 120mm size. Today, the fans lineup has expanded to include four models: Slim, ARGB, OC, and the base model. These fans are available in two sizes, the standard 120mm and a unique 140mm option.

Our Mobius Fan

Our model of Mobius fan is the Mobius 120P ARGB White edition. The all white Fan showcases Cooler Master’s attention to detail. Its chamfered side vents, designed to enhance airflow, effectively maximize force-induced air pressure and minimize dead air.

On the fan’s edges, Cooler Master has strategically incorporated anti-vibration dampers, consisting of surprisingly elastic rubber. These dampers significantly reduce vibration and rattling, contributing to a stable chassis and maintaining a quiet operating environment.

Ring Blade Design (RBD) fan design

The Mobius Fan’s most distinctive feature is its Ring Blade Design (RBD). This innovative design binds all the fan blades together within a ring, offering several key benefits. The interconnected blades create a rigid structure that dampens vibrations, reducing instability and noise.

The RBD also optimizes airflow, reducing turbulence and drag for more efficient operation and consistent performance. Additionally, the interconnected blades form a stronger unit, reducing the risk of blade failure or bending and improving overall fan reliability.

Loop Dynamic Bearing

The Mobius fan employs a loop dynamic bearing (LDB), which combines oil coating and lubrication for exceptional performance.

Their design minimizes vibration and friction, increased stability and reduces the likelihood of wobbling or shaking. Additionally, many LDBs incorporate self-lubricating materials, reducing the need for external lubrication and maintenance.

Mobius Fan against Spectrum Fan

The Spectrum Fan is bundled with the Hyper 620S and 212 Spectrum coolers. For this comparison, we’ve included the SickleFlow fan for additional reference.

Compared to the Spectrum fan, the Mobius Fan offers higher spin speeds, resulting in greater air pressure and airflow. However, this performance comes at the cost of increased noise levels.

When evaluating all three fans together, the SickleFlow fan proves to be a better fit for AIO coolers due to its higher airflow, while the Spectrum fan, with its higher air pressure, is more suitable for air coolers. In this sense, the Mobius Fan can be considered a versatile option, excelling in both airflow and air pressure, making it a jack-of-all-trades among the three.

Temperature Test

Mobius Fan Idle

Our tests involved subjecting the CPU to a 10-minute idle period in an ambient temperature of 25.4°C. The average idle temperature stabilized at a consistent 25.59°C, fluctuating within a narrow range of 25°C to 26°C.

Mobius Fan load

We then conducted a 10-minute stress test on the CPU, resulting in a maximum temperature of 64.8°C and an average stress test temperature of 63.76°C.

Comparison to Spectrum Fans

The Mobius fan demonstrated a significant temperature advantage over the Spectrum fans in both idle and load conditions. During idle, the Mobius fan maintained a temperature of 26°C compared to the Spectrum fans’ 39°C, a substantial difference of 13°C. Under load, the Spectrum fans reached a maximum of 71°C, while the Mobius Fan remained at 63.76°C, showcasing a temperature gap of approximately 7°C.

 Spectrum FanMobius FanDifferences

Load71°C63.76°C7°C

While the Spectrum fans were quieter at idle, both fan models exhibited noticeable noise levels during load, although the sound was limited to a gentle hum.

Cooler Master Mobius Fan Conclusion

In conclusion, the Cooler Master Mobius Fan offers a compelling upgrade over the Spectrum fan, delivering superior performance at a competitive price. Despite its slightly higher retail price of RM119 per unit, some online retailers on Shopee often offer it for as low as RM93. With only 2 fans, the cost can be as much as a Hyper 620s.

The Mobius Fan’s innovative Ring Blade Design, loop dynamic bearing, and advanced vibration dampening technology contribute to its exceptional performance. It excels in both airflow and air pressure, making it a versatile choice for various cooling scenarios. This make it a worthwhile investment for those seeking a top-tier cooling solution.

Gold-Award

With that, we recommend the Cooler Master Mobius Fan for those who want to upgrade their cooling game, and award it with our gold award.
