A Record Year for the Industry
The Malaysian Institute of Estate Agents (MIEA) celebrated the achievements of the country’s leading estate agency professionals at the 18th National Real Estate Awards (NREA) 2026, held at One World Hotel under the theme “Legacy of Excellence.” The theme paid tribute to the pioneers, visionaries and leaders who have shaped Malaysia’s estate agency profession over the years, while reflecting MIEA’s commitment to preserving professionalism, ethics and service excellence for future generations of practitioners.

The ceremony was graced by Yang Berhormat Liew Chin Tong, Deputy Minister of Finance, who joined industry leaders, practitioners and stakeholders in celebrating excellence within an industry that remains a quiet but significant contributor to Malaysia’s broader real estate economy. The presence of a senior finance ministry figure underscores how seriously the government continues to view the property transaction layer as part of national economic plumbing.
MIEA Million Dollar Achievers Surge
This year’s awards attracted 117 submissions across 23 award categories, reflecting the industry’s continued commitment to professional recognition. The defining headline, however, came from the MIEA Million Dollar Achievers (MMDA) category, which recorded its highest number of submissions since the programme began. Even though MIEA split the MMDA track into two tiers this year, the response overwhelmed expectations.
There were 34 recipients recognised for achieving professional fees between RM1 million and RM2.999 million, and a further seven recipients recognised for fees exceeding RM3 million. Collectively, this year’s MMDA submissions represented approximately RM78 million in professional fees, a significant increase from the RM43.9 million recorded in 2025. That is a near-doubling in a single year, which is striking for a sector often viewed as cyclical.
Industry Leadership Speaks
“Having spent more than two decades in the estate agency profession, I have witnessed firsthand how our industry has continued to evolve while remaining anchored by the values of professionalism, integrity and trust,” said Mr Kelvin Yip, President of MIEA. “This year’s National Real Estate Awards reflect that journey. The strong response we received, together with the record participation in the MIEA Million Dollar Achievers category, demonstrates our profession’s continued commitment to excellence and continuous improvement.”
Mr Ethan Leong, Vice President of MIEA, added that the credibility and prestige of the awards were built upon a rigorous evaluation process. “Over five months, every submission underwent comprehensive audit, independent judging and careful deliberation. The ‘Legacy of Excellence’ we celebrated tonight is not defined solely by our winners’ achievements, but by the collective commitment of practitioners across the industry to continuously improve, embrace innovation and uphold the highest standards of professional practice,” he said.
The event also featured the presentation of the prestigious Real Estate Agent of the Year Award, honouring an individual recognised as a proven role model of the estate agency profession, not only within his own firm, but also within the association and in the eyes of his peers.
Sponsors and the Road Ahead

NREA 2026 was made possible through the support of premier sponsors including KHK Land, Triterra, Central Spectrum, UOB, PropertyGuru, Monkeys Canopy and Auto Bavaria, alongside supporting legal firms, financial institutions, MIEA State Branches and other contributing organisations. The breadth of sponsor categories, from developers and industrial parks to banks, listing platforms, marketing agencies and automotive groups, illustrates how deeply estate agency intersects with the wider Malaysian economy.
Representing registered estate agents and Real Estate Negotiators (RENs) on all issues of professional practice, MIEA continues to champion professionalism, ethical practices and continuous professional development while advancing a trusted, progressive and future-ready estate agency profession. The strong participation in NREA 2026 reinforces the importance of professionalism, integrity and consumer trust in shaping the future of Malaysia’s estate agency industry.
Our Take
The near-doubling of MMDA submissions is the most important number in this entire press release. It tells a story that headline transaction volumes often miss — that individual practitioners and boutique agencies are quietly scaling up their book of business, with a meaningful slice of the profession now clearing RM1 million and above in annual professional fees. That is the kind of structural professionalisation that does not show up in property transaction headlines but reshapes how the industry operates from the inside.
For consumers, the split into two MMDA tiers and the rigorous five-month audit process are quietly meaningful signals. They suggest that MIEA is pushing the profession toward higher accountability at exactly the moment when digital property platforms, fintech-driven transactions and cross-border buyer activity are putting estate agents under new competitive pressure. Awards nights can sometimes feel ceremonial, but the underlying data here points to a real inflection.
