Kingston Technology, a global leader in memory products and technology solutions, has been recognized by TrendForce as the leading third-party supplier of SSDs in the channel for the entire year of 2022, marking its sixth consecutive year at the top. According to TrendForce data, Kingston contributed to an impressive 28 percent of the total 114 million SSD units shipped in 2022.

Decline in global SSD shipments

Despite a 10.7% decline in global SSD shipments in 2022, Kingston maintained its stronghold in the market, seeing a growth in market share compared to 2021. In a challenging market, where the top five third-party suppliers accounted for nearly 60% of total shipments, Kingston stood out with a substantial lead, as the second-place supplier held only 9 percent of the channel market.

As the global economy faced challenges in 2023, Kingston strategically managed high-cost inventory burdens, adapting to competitive pricing strategies in shipping. The market dynamics shifted rapidly in the third quarter, influenced by decisive production cuts by NAND Flash suppliers. This shift favored module manufacturers with lower-cost inventories.

The demand for PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSDs continued to shape the market, prompting module houses to transition from SATA to PCIe. Kingston, in response to customer trends, expanded its product range in 2022, introducing the NV2 client NVMe drive, which became Kingston’s best-selling drive with over 12 million units sold worldwide. The company also refreshed the award-winning Kingston FURY Renegade SSD, adding a heatsink option for console and PC gamers, demonstrating its commitment to developing high-quality NVMe solutions.

Kingston stands for customer-centric services

Apart from product expansion, Kingston stands out for its exceptional sales support, providing customers access to in-house experts and engineers. This customer-centric approach has been a key factor in Kingston’s three decades of reliability and support. Kingston’s consistent top ranking in the SSD market for the sixth consecutive year aligns with its similar achievement in the DRAM division, where it holds the position of the largest third-party memory module supplier for the 20th year.

Expressing gratitude for the recognition, Kingston stated, “It’s an honor to achieve this top ranking for another year. From the beginning, Kingston has remained steadfast in our commitment to serving our customers and channel partners across the globe, and it’s through these strong and enduring relationships that our SSD business has experienced remarkable growth.
