Xiaomi Corporation has announced its audited consolidated results for 2025, and the numbers tell a remarkable story. Adjusted net profit surged 43.8% to a record RMB39.2 billion (approximately RM22.5 billion).

Smart EV Becomes a Core Growth Engine

The standout figure from Xiaomi’s 2025 results is the smart EV segment. Revenue from smart EV, AI, and other new initiatives reached RMB106.1 billion (approximately RM60.9 billion) — surpassing the RMB100 billion mark for the first time and delivering 223.8% year-over-year growth.

More significantly, this segment achieved positive full-year income from operations for the first time ever, reaching RMB0.9 billion (approximately RM517 million). In the fourth quarter alone, smart EV revenue hit RMB37.2 billion (approximately RM21.3 billion), accounting for 31.8% of total group revenue.

The Xiaomi YU7, the company’s high-performance luxury SUV, has been particularly successful. As of February 2026, the YU7 Series ranked No.1 in mid-to-large size SUV sales in mainland China for seven consecutive months. In March 2026, Xiaomi launched the next-generation SU7, which received over 15,000 locked-in orders within the first 34 minutes and surpassed 30,000 orders within three days.

Traditional Core Businesses Remain Strong

Xiaomi’s smartphone business continues to be a foundation of the group’s performance. Revenue from smartphones reached RMB186.4 billion (approximately RM107 billion) for the year. The premium segment showed particular strength, with the Xiaomi 17 Ultra and Xiaomi 17 Ultra by Leica gaining market recognition.

The IoT and lifestyle products segment also reached a record high, delivering RMB123.2 billion (approximately RM70.7 billion) in revenue. This demonstrates Xiaomi’s ability to expand beyond its core smartphone business into the broader smart home ecosystem.

Our Take

Xiaomi’s 2025 results show that the company’s diversification strategy is working. The smart EV business isn’t just growing — it’s becoming genuinely profitable, which addresses concerns about whether Xiaomi could sustain its automotive ambitions alongside its consumer electronics business.

For Malaysian consumers, Xiaomi’s success with the YU7 and SU7 suggests the company is serious about expanding its vehicle lineup beyond China. While Malaysian EV availability remains limited, Xiaomi’s strong regional performance could accelerate expansion into Southeast Asian markets.

The smartphone business remains competitive, but the real story is Xiaomi transforming from a smartphone company into a broader technology ecosystem player. That evolution appears to be ahead of schedule.
