Galaxy S26 Series Arriving This Month
Samsung has confirmed its next Galaxy Unpacked event will take place on 26th February 2026 at 2:00 AM Malaysian time, where the Galaxy S26 series will make its official debut.
Malaysian fans can already register their interest on Samsung’s website to receive a RM150 eVoucher and stand a chance to win prizes worth up to RM68,800.
Privacy Display: The Standout Feature
The most intriguing new feature is Privacy Display on the Galaxy S26 Ultra. This OLED technology makes it extremely difficult for anyone to see your screen from off-angles — essentially functioning like a built-in privacy screen protector.
What sets it apart is the AI integration. Users can toggle Privacy Display manually or set it to activate automatically when opening banking apps, messaging apps, photo galleries, or when entering PINs and passwords.
This could be a game-changer for privacy-conscious users who frequently check sensitive information in public spaces.
Performance and Charging Upgrades
Under the hood, Samsung is making some notable changes:
- Galaxy S26 & S26+: Samsung’s own 2nm Exynos 2600 chipset
- Galaxy S26 Ultra: Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 (slightly overclocked “for Galaxy”)
- Charging: S26 Ultra gets 65W wired charging (up from 45W), S26+ gets 45W, base S26 stuck at 25W
- Battery: S26 gets 4,300mAh (+300mAh bump), S26+ and S26 Ultra retain 4,900mAh and 5,000mAh respectively
Unfortunately, the base Galaxy S26 still doesn’t get the faster charging treatment, and wireless charging remains “Qi2 ready” without built-in magnets like Apple’s MagSafe.
Display Specs
- Galaxy S26: 6.3-inch, 2340×1080, 120Hz AMOLED 2X
- Galaxy S26+: 6.7-inch, 3120×1440, 120Hz AMOLED 2X
- Galaxy S26 Ultra: 6.9-inch, 3120×1440, 120Hz AMOLED 2X
All three models will come with Corning Gorilla Armor 2 glass protection as standard.
Cameras: Incremental Upgrades
If you’re hoping for major camera upgrades, you might be disappointed. The Galaxy S26 and S26+ will likely keep the same 50MP main, 10MP 3x telephoto, and 12MP ultra-wide setup as the S25.
The S26 Ultra retains the 200MP main shooter, 10MP 3x telephoto, 50MP 5x telephoto, and 50MP ultra-wide. All three phones reportedly keep the same 12MP selfie camera.
Software and Design
The Galaxy S26 series will ship with One UI 8.5 based on Android 16 out of the box.
Design-wise, expect subtle changes with a Galaxy Z Fold 7-inspired rear camera island giving the devices a refreshed look.
Conclusion
The Galaxy S26 series appears to be an incremental upgrade rather than a revolutionary leap. The standout feature is clearly Privacy Display on the Ultra — a practical addition that addresses real-world privacy concerns.
Faster charging and the new chipsets are welcome improvements, but the camera hardware remains largely unchanged. If you’re on an S24 or earlier, the S26 offers enough reasons to upgrade. S25 owners might want to wait for the S27.
We’ll know all the official details, including Malaysian pricing, after the launch event on 26th February 2026.
