The plane of Tarkir is now engulfed in colossal and terrifying dragonstorms, unleashing unprecedented numbers of wild dragons upon the land. Powerful new Spirit Dragons have emerged from these storms, displacing the former dragonlords and igniting a fierce battle for supremacy among the five clans.

Amidst this draconic upheaval, iconic heroes Narset and Elspeth endeavor to halt the spread of the dragonstorms beyond Tarkir, while Sarkhan Vol stands in their path. Introducing Innovative Mechanics

Tarkir: Dragonstorm introduces exciting new mechanics to enrich gameplay:

• Dragonstorms: These enchantments possess potent “enters the battlefield” abilities and can be returned to the player’s hand for recasting whenever a Dragon card is played.
• Omen: This new card subtype offers players a choice: either cast a smaller spell that is then shuffled back into their library, or unleash a formidable Dragon.

The Return of the Clans and Their Keywords

The five distinct clans of Tarkir make their return, each with their unique culture and engaging gameplay styles. Players can once again align themselves with a clan that suits their preferred playstyle, with each clan featuring a new keyword:

Abzan (White, Black, Green) – Endure: This keyword focuses on +1/+1 counters. When playing creatures with Endure, players can choose to add N +1/+1 counters or create N 1/1 Spirit tokens.

Jeskai (Blue, Red, White) – Flurry: This keyword enables mini combo turns. Cards with Flurry trigger an additional effect when the player casts their second spell each turn.

Sultai (Black, Blue, Green) – Renew: This keyword allows players to exile cards from their graveyard as a sorcery for powerful effects. To Renew, players spend mana and exile the card to achieve a significant result.

Mardu (Red, White, Black) – Mobilize: This keyword supports go-wide strategies for a single turn. Creatures with Mobilize trigger upon attacking and create additional attackers with menace that are sacrificed at the beginning of the next end step.

Temur (Green, Blue, Red) – Harmonize: This keyword revolves around big creatures with reduced costs. Players can cast a card with Harmonize from their graveyard for its Harmonize cost and may tap an untapped creature they control to pay its power in generic mana.

Commander Decks and Collectibles

Players can battle alongside their chosen clan with five new Commander decks. Each deck features a legendary clan leader of Tarkir and a powerful Spirit Dragon. These decks are ready to play straight out of the box and contain all the necessary components for Magic’s popular multiplayer format.

Tarkir: Dragonstorm also offers a wealth of collectibles, including sought-after cards, new card treatments, and thematic foils. A notable addition is Mox Jasper, a potent card for dragon-themed decks. Regular and Draconic treatments can be found in Play Boosters and Collector Boosters. A serialized version of Mox Jasper, limited to 500 copies and featuring exclusive Dan Frazier artwork and a Retro frame, will be available in Collector Boosters only.

The set features showcase treatments that honor the legacy of the clans and dragons, including Dragonic cards with a themed frame, Borderless Clans Cards with a unified aesthetic, and Ghostfire cards showcasing the influence of the elder dragon Ugin. Additionally, six new Borderless Reversible cards feature both fearsome and adorable versions of dragons.
