MSI Announces Intel Core 14th Gen Processors Compatibility with Z790 MAX Series
MSI is excited to announce compatibility between the brand-new Intel Core 14th gen processors and MSI’s recently launched Z790 MAX MEG Series, MPG Series, MAG Series, and PRO Series motherboards. The Z790 MAX motherboards are designed to provide exceptional performance for gamers, creators, and all users, offering more efficient computing compared to the previous generation of processors.
Enhanced Performance with Intel Core 14th Gen Processors
The Intel Core 14th gen processors continue to utilize the “Intel 7” Hybrid Architecture Process Technology. Notably, the highest-performing i9-14900K processors can now reach speeds of up to 6GHz, thanks to Intel’s Thermal Velocity Boost. This CPU refresh also introduces improvements to the Intel Core i7-14700K, including 4 additional E-Cores, enhancing multithread workloads, and increasing L3 Cache across all processors. Six models will be available at launch, including the Intel Core i9-14900K, i9-14900KF, i7-14700K, i7-14700KF, i5-14600K, and i5-14600KF.
Key Features of MSI Z790 MAX Series
MSI’s Z790 MAX Series motherboards come with some exciting features. They introduce Wi-Fi 7, the next generation of wireless solutions, which offers double the wireless networking speed compared to Wi-Fi 6E. Wi-Fi 7 achieves theoretical speeds of 5.8 Gbps and doubles the bandwidth from 160 MHz to 320 MHz. This improvement allows devices with Wi-Fi 7 to simultaneously send and receive data on different wireless channels, enhancing network capacity. It also increases the Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (QAM) from 1024-QAM to 4096-QAM, boosting the peak transmission rate.
As M.2 SSDs become more prevalent, MSI Z790 MAX Gaming motherboards now offer full support for Gen5 M.2 and PCIe slot speeds. Cooling the M.2 SSD is crucial, and high-end motherboards like MEG Z790 GODLIKE MAX and ACE MAX feature MSI’s patented Screwless with Magnetic M.2 Shield Frozr. The rest of the gaming models still include MSI’s patented Screwless M.2 Shield Frozr and EZ M.2 clip for easy installation.
Furthermore, MSI introduces the USB 4.0 PD100W Expansion Card, available in October as a bundle for MPG Z790 CARBON MAX WIFI. This expansion card utilizes a PCIe 4.0 x4 interface and offers two USB 4.0 ports and two DP 1.4 ports. It provides high-speed connectivity at up to 40Gbps and supports a maximum of 100W of Power Delivery with compatible devices.
BIOS updates for MSI 600 & 700 Series motherboards
In preparation for the Intel Core 14th gen processors, MSI has made BIOS updates available for previous 600 & 700 Series motherboards. These updates will be ready for download at launch.
