Prepare for high-octane action and adrenaline-fueled gameplay as Wizards of the Coast launches prerelease events for Aetherdrift, the latest set for Magic: The Gathering (MTG), on February 7th, 2025. This set plunges players into the Ghirapur Grand Prix, a death race across the multiverse, culminating in its official tabletop release on February 14th.
A Multiverse on the Line

The stakes are high in the multi-plane Ghirapur Grand Prix. Racers compete for the ultimate prize: the artificial Planeswalker Spark, the Aetherspark. Even the legendary Planeswalker Chandra is in the race, seeking the Aetherspark for her friend Nissa, who lost her own Spark. The race spans across diverse planes like Avishkar, Amonkhet, and Muraganda. Participants must navigate treacherous tracks and outmaneuver their opponents to claim victory.
Race To Victory at Local Stores

Wizards Play Network (WPN) stores across Southeast Asia are hosting the “Race To Victory” program from February 7th to April 30th. Players participating in eligible events at these stores can earn exclusive physical rewards. By attending multiple events, players can progressively unlock better rewards. These events include Prerelease, Draft, Standard, Commander, and other formats like Modern, Sealed, and Legacy. Rewards include campaign pins, A3 posters of Graffiti Giants, race tags, and a customized speed/life counter.

The first three players at each WPN store to complete the tracking card by March 23rd qualify for the Race To Victory country championships, where they can compete for an Aetherspark trophy. Five trophies are up for grabs across Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, and Indonesia.
New and Exciting Mechanics Fuel the Race

Aetherdrift introduces exciting new mechanics to enhance the racing experience. “Max Speed” allows players to track their speed level, gaining power as they progress. “Exhaust” provides a one-time, game-changing effect that can be strategically used to disrupt opponents or secure a lead. Returning mechanics include “Mount” and “Vehicle,” offering players a choice of high-tech or rudimentary vehicles and various mounts to aid them in their quest for victory.
