Table of Contents
Pocket lighting has become an essential tool for creators and we have been eyeing the market for a simple one. The LitBox Go Pocket by GS Studio, made the sales within the first day seeing it. It stands out from the crowd as the only COB light with mini bowen mount that is both ultra-affordable and feature-rich. But is there any catch?

LitBox Go Pocket Overview
This compact device houses a powerful 40W COB lighting with a built-in battery. The chassis is designed for simplicity and efficiency.

On the back, you’ll find three buttons for straightforward operation, complemented by a single power switch located below.

A mini LCD display provides clear status feedback, letting you know exactly what your light is doing.

To keep things cool during intense use, a built-in fan and a visible heat sink work together. This system spins up during high power modes, yet it’s so quiet it’s hardly audible.

The true versatility of the LitBox Go Pocket lies in its design. It features 1/4 inch screw holes on the top, left, and bottom of the chassis, offering a wide range of mounting options.

But the highlight of this COB light—and the main reason we got our hands on it—is the mini Bowens mount. This mount significantly expands the light’s potential, giving users the freedom to attach a variety of light modifiers.

The light comes bundled with a reflector that can be attached to a diffuser dome, providing a simple yet effective way to shape the light.

The package also includes a PD 65W charger and a USB-C to USB-C cable.
LitBox Go Pocket Light
The LitBox Go Pocket delivers impressive lighting performance. Its 40W COB light is rated with a high CRI (Color Rendering Index) of 97, which ensures accurate and true-to-life colors.

You can easily adjust the color temperature, as it supports CCT (Correlated Color Temperature) from 2700K to 6500K. When operating at full power, the light is rated at 3526 lumens, delivering 5108 lux at a distance of 0.5 meters.

Beyond its standard CCT mode, the light also offers a variety of creative options. It comes with ten different effects modes, including dynamic simulations like candle light, lightning, and a broken bulb.

The light can also operate at different wattage modes, allowing you to switch between 20W, 30W, and the full 40W.
Light Modifier Mount
As we mentioned, the mini Bowens mount is a game-changer. While a diffuser dome is included in the bundle, we decided to get a mini parabolic light modifier to see what this light could really do.

It’s a great way to expand the functionality of your LitBox Go Pocket. Other light modifiers are also available, such as octaboxes, lanterns, and Fresnel lenses.
All of these accessories are miniaturized to fit the mini Bowens mount but function just as their larger counterparts would.
Lighting Result

We brought this light specifically for product shooting, and it has performed exceptionally well.

The LitBox Go Pocket makes our setup much cleaner, giving us more space to work with.

It’s a fantastic solution for small product settings and has truly enhanced our workflow.

LitBox Go Pocket Battery
The official battery capacity in mAh isn’t mentioned in the product data, but GS Studio states the light will support 20−40 minutes of operation on a full charge.

The official data also indicates that it takes 1 hour and 30 minutes to fully charge the device. GS Studio also sells a compatible 6000 mAh battery handle, which could provide an additional 30 minutes of lighting.
Battery Test
Our test results were consistent with the official data. We managed to get about 32 minutes of operation from the LitBox Go Pocket when it was set to full 40W power. It’s fair to assume that it would last even longer at a lower wattage.

We also took an educated guess about the battery capacity. Based on our test, the charging current is 0.5A. With a charge duration of 1.5 hours, the battery capacity is likely rated at around 6500 mAh. A 6500 mAh capacity isn’t huge, and a half-hour working life might not be enough for everyone.

However, the saving grace is that the light supports bypass charging. This feature allows you to power the light with an external USB-C power source for significantly longer operation.

Just make sure your power source supports at least 51W of charging, as that is the current the light drew during our bypass test. This is also why GS Studio wisely included a 65W PD charger with the device.
LitBox Go Pocket Conclusion
The main reason we were drawn to this light was the inclusion of a mini Bowens mount. Priced at just RM179, the LitBox Go Pocket is likely the most affordable 40W portable COB light on the market with this key feature.

The pros of the LitBox Go Pocket are its mini Bowens mount, which allows for versatile light modification, a highly affordable price point, the ability to use bypass charging for extended use, and its compact and portable design. The main con is its limited built-in battery life.

Overall, we highly recommend the LitBox Go Pocket for small product settings and award it with our Gold Award. Its ability to work with mini Bowens mounts at such a low price makes it an incredible value. For other purposes, your mileage may vary.
