Infinix NOTE 12 2023 Review
The Infinix NOTE 12 2023 is a smartphone that doesn’t break the bank but still seeks to provide its users with a luxury experience. It attempts to appeal to people who want a nice smartphone experience with decent gaming performance without breaking the budget. With that being said, will the Infinix NOTE 12 2023 provide good value for money at a price of RM799?
Exterior:
The Infinix NOTE 12 2023 has a sleek and sophisticated appearance thanks to its metal frame bezel and glossy and matte dual-finishing back design. The product comes in three interesting colour choices: Tuscany Blue, Alpine White, and Volcanic Grey. The phone boasts a vibrating 6.7-inch LTPS AMOLED FHD+ display with narrow bezels, both of which contribute to the product’s aesthetic appeal.
I really like the dual-finish back design; having a matte glitter finish with a radiant glossy finish really lifts the class of the phone. The Infinix NOTE 12 2023 design gave the phone a luxurious theme that would boost its user’s general outlook if you wore it like a watch.
Screen:
As mentioned earlier, the Infinix NOTE 12 2023 features a display with a resolution of FHD+ 2400 x 1080 pixels and is equipped with an AMOLED LTPS screen measuring 6.7 inches. Because of its wide viewing angles, vivid colours, and crisp visuals, the screen is ideally suited for both gaming and watching movies and other forms of media.
The screen displays the great characteristics of an AMOLED screen, where its colour recreation is quite spectacular. My one beef with the Infinix NOTE 12 2023 is that as it is a collaboration between Infinix and Mobile Legend, shouldn’t it feature a faster refresh rate? There is also no mention of a higher touch registration rate for screens.
The display looks fantastic and provided a fantastic visual experience for this price range, but it is noticeably limited by the lack of a higher refresh rate and sampling rate. I wouldn’t be so harsh if it didn’t launch in collaboration with Mobile Legend, but it does.
Audio:
Infinix has equipped the phone with dual speakers, one at the earpiece on top and another as a stand-alone speaker below. These speakers are Hi-Res Audio certified and do provide a good enough listening experience as far as a mobile phone speaker can go. While not mentioned anywhere or purely referred to as “dual speakers,” users would be happy to know the speakers are stereo speakers, giving them a better audio experience.
The sound is rich but with hints of hollowness; this is common for smartphone speakers as the speaker size is too small to fill up the sound spectrum with bass. None the less, the audio is good enough for some light show binging and definitely good enough for Mobile Legend.
Yes, the dual audio is hi-res certified and stereo, and yes, the speaker still has some hollow sound in it, but I won’t be overly critical of it since even with the hollow sound, it is still one of the better sounding phones at this price segment. If you brought the phone and are not happy with the speaker, there’s still the old, trusty audio jack.
Infinix NOTE 12 2023 Camera:
The Infinix NOTE 12 2023 has a 50MP f/1.6 primary camera, a 2MP f/2.4 depth sensor, and an AI lens with the assistance of a Quad-Flash light.Selfies may be captured with high clarity using the front-facing camera, which has a resolution of 16 megapixels. While the 50MP primary camera seems quite interesting, we can’t say the same for the rest of the two cameras; they felt more like space filler than they served any actual function.
The image captured by it has strong and vivid colours but weak contrast. Its super-night mode is quite impressive, with good colour recreation and detail preserved.
When the lighting conditions allow, the Infinix NOTE 12 2023 is capable of creating great photography. As for the other cameras… We tried blocking cameras during video and photo capture in various modes and found no discernible difference. It seems like the Infinix NOTE 12 2023 is perfectly capable of solely relying on its primary camera to function, which begs the question of whether the other cameras are purely placeholders.
SOC:
The Infinix NOTE 12 2023 is powered by the MediaTek Helio G99, a SoC introduced back in 2022 targeted for mainstream mobile gaming. Among its 8 cores, MediaTek has inserted two ARM Cortex-A76 processors with a frequency of up to 2.2 GHz to handle users’ gaming demands.
Paired with the 8GB of RAM, the Infinix Note 12 2023 can handle most games on the market. To handle situations that demand more from the phone, Infinix included the function of “Extended RAM,” where part of the storage on the phone is designated to function as part of the random access memory process. According to our observations, this will not necessarily improve the phone’s gaming performance, but will instead allow for more background app running or switching between apps. This is useful if users are streaming or recording their gaming, as multiple apps are involved.
The Helio G99 is perfectly capable of handling day-to-day phone activities and some mainstream gaming. At this price range, it would heavily compete with other SoCs, so users should keep an eye out for other options too.
Gaming
On a hardware level, the Infimix NOTE 12 2023 is capable of running the majority of popular games.Being launched in partnership with Mobile Legend, the phone can definitely handle the game at high graphic settings and normal frame rate (high frame rate is not available).
But when it comes to more demanding games like Genshin Impact, like more mainstream phones, the Infinix NOTE 12 2023 struggles to handle the game at its highest graphics setting, and we are only able to get a decent gaming experience when the game is at a low setting.
To further enhance the gaming experience, the Infinix NOTE 12 2023 is equipped with a linear motor with 4D vibration. 4D vibration is an intriguing new haptic feedback solution standard because it would feedback to the direction of the event, for example, if you were shot in the right side, the haptic feedback would only vibrate on that side.
The phone did not noticeably heat up during a round of Mobile Legend, thanks to a 10-layer graphite cooling system that was implemented.Based on official testing, this solution covered 100% of the heat source and reduced it by up to 7°C.In our game of Genshin Impact, the area surrounding the camera would heat up noticeably. But generally, it does not affect the experience too much.
The gaming experience on the Infinix NOTE 12 2023 is a pleasant one. Yes, it can handle mainstream gaming without much issue, but when it comes to more advanced games, it does struggle. None the less, the inclusion of a 4D linear motor and a good cooling setup gave it a generally good gaming experience.
Battery
The battery of the Note 12 2023 has a capacity of 5000 mAh and supports quick charging at 33 watts when used with its charger. This is a respectable amount of battery capacity, sufficient to go through an entire day’s worth of activities along with a few rounds of gaming. Additionally, it can wirelessly charge itself as well as reserve wireless charging.
It’s also a plus that the phone comes with a 33-watt quick charger by default in the box.
The battery capacity of the Infinix Note 12 2023 is rather impressive. Along with wireless charging, this phone provides features that no other brand at this price point can match.
Network Component:
Dual SIM support and 4G LTE connectivity are among the features that make the Infinix NOTE 12 2023 possible to use at high internet speeds. In addition, it has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, and a USB Type-C connection, which can be used for both charging and transferring data.
One thing to highlight is the presence of NFC, which allows users to use the NFC wallet function or access card functions.
Despite the lack of 5G, we’re still impressed by Infinix’s inclusion of NFC functionality, which significantly increased the phone’s functionality.
Infinix NOTE 12 2023 Conclusion:
In conclusion, the Infinix NOTE 12 2023 is a great smartphone for those who want a premium experience without breaking the bank. With its sleek design, good performance, and extended functionality while only priced at RM799, it is a device worth considering for anyone in the market for a new smartphone.
In conclusion, the Infinix NOTE 12 2023 is an excellent smartphone for those who are looking for a luxury experience without having to spend an exorbitant amount of money.
