ASUS Zenbook Pro 14 OLED is a RM10,999 ultraportable laptop with an i9, RTX 4070 and 32GB RAM
Creator-oriented machines are usually bulky and heavy to accommodate the cooling for the powerful hardware that creators need. But the ASUS Zenbook Pro 14 OLED manages to cram in a GeForce RTX 4070, Core i9-13900H, 32GB RAM and a full array of I/O ports, all in a package that is just 17.9mm thin and 1.6kg light. Of course, it isn’t nearly as light on your wallet, coming in at RM10,999, but come on, if you are someone who can take advantage of the capabilities on offer here, I bet you will be able to cover the cost of this laptop in two heartbeats.
ASUS Zenbook Pro 14 OLED — the ultimate ultraportable creator machine?
On top of the headlining specs, the ASUS Zenbook Pro 14 OLED packs a stunning 14.5-inch 3K 120Hz OLED touch-sensitive display. This is the same panel from the Zenbook Pro Duo 14 OLED, just that ASUS decided to market the 2880 x 1800 resolution as 3K now, instead of 2.8K. Regardless, this is a fantastic display, and ASUS pushed the literal boundaries to achieve a 90% screen-to-body ratio.
Speaking of pushing the boundaries, unlike last year’s creator models — the Zenbook Pro Duo 14 OLED and Zenbook Pro 16X OLED — this year you can actually upgrade the RAM with one SO-DIMM slot. It comes with 32GB DDR5 RAM out of the box, but you can bump it up to 48GB, if you see the need for it. ASUS also included a MUX Switch here, a technology more commonly featured in gaming models, allowing you to take full advantage of the GeForce RTX 4070’s performance. Cooling is afforded by a dual-fan, quad-vent system, ensuring that the total system wattage can go all the way up to 125W, no problemo.
ASUS also brought over the physical ASUS Dial from the Zenbook Pro 16X OLED and put it into the corner of the trackpad of the Zenbook Pro 14 OLED, dubbing it the ASUS DialPad. Worth noting is that this is quite different from the ASUS DialPad featured in the Vivobook Pros of yesteryears, as this is a physically indented for a more intuitive experience. I am not too sure if it will feel uncomfortable to use the trackpad with the ASUS DialPad in the upper left corner, but that’s something I will find out when I get the unit in for review (hopefully).
If you’re interested in upping your content creation game when on-the-go, the Zenbook Pro 14 OLED is priced at a cool RM10,999. Availability is set to commence starting tomorrow, so you have some time to save up.
