Xiaomi 33W Magnetic Power Bank 10000 Review — not-so-great wireless charging

The Xiaomi 33W Magnetic Power Bank 10000 is a wireless power bank that somewhat relies on MagSafe yet doesn’t actually support MagSafe (or Qi2) charging. While Apple themselves has mysteriously stopped making the MagSafe Battery Pack, the rest of the industry is still churning out plenty of wireless magnetic power banks to help out with Apple’s tiny batteries. So, is this power bank any good if you find yourself needing a bit more juice from your iPhone?

Xiaomi 33W Magnetic Power Bank 10000 — What’s Good?

Keeps its cool when charging

Xiaomi 33W Magnetic Power Bank 10000 Review-2
Runs cool, charges well.

Regardless whether you’re using the magnetic wireless charging pad or the 33W outputs, the Xiaomi 33W Magnetic Power Bank 10000 remains cool to the touch. This is quite important as obviously you will be carrying the power bank around with it attached to the back of your phone, and you don’t want it to be a hot potato. Outputting 33W is also a non-issue for the Xiaomi 33W Magnetic Power Bank 10000, which will be the preferred choice when you need your battery juiced up in a pinch. More on that later.

Really strong magnetic attachment

*Slap* The Xiaomi 33W Magnetic Power Bank 10000 ain’t going nowhere.

Unlike my Baseus Magnetic Wireless Power Bank, the Xiaomi 33W Magnetic Power Bank 10000 has a much stronger attachment to the back of my iPhone. I believe there are more magnets built in, as it attaches very strongly without any wiggle or slippage. It might also be due to a grippier silicone surface on the wireless charging side. Without a deliberate effort to separate the power bank from my iPhone, it really isn’t going to go anywhere. Heck, it’s so strong it can serve as a stand of sorts when you want to prop up your iPhone.

Can charge three devices at the same time

You can charge three devices at the same time with the Xiaomi 33W Magnetic Power Bank 1000.

Should you have a peculiar desire to charge three devices at the same time albeit very slowly, the Xiaomi 33W Magnetic Power Bank 10000 can actually handle that. By default, attaching any device to the integrated cable or the USB-C port will disable the wireless charger, but you can tap the button twice to enable the wireless charger as well. It will charge all the connected devices at a measly 7.5W each. I won’t recommend it, but hey, it’s possible. On the bright side, the fact that the Xiaomi 33W Magnetic Power Bank 10000 prioritizes wired charging means that you can have it attached to your iPhone while charging it at maximum speed with the integrated cable, which was not possible with the Baseus Magnetic Wireless Power Bank.

Rather robust charging support

You can charge the Xiaomi 33W Magnetic Power Bank 10000 while charging two other devices.

When it comes to recharging, the Xiaomi 33W Magnetic Power Bank 10000 is rather interesting in the way that it negotiates 30W (12V, 2.5A) right off the bat. As it also supports charging itself while it charges other devices, I also tested that scenario and found that it will negotiate 9V input when charging other devices. With just one device connected, I saw about 12W input, while with two devices it goes up to around 23W. Given that it’s outputting 15W, not to mention the inherent inefficiencies of wireless charging, you should essentially not see the power bank itself gaining much charge at all when you’re doing this. In any case, a full charge at 30W is achieved in about 2.5 hours. I didn’t care to test the charging rate while charging other devices, as it takes way too long to be practical.

Xiaomi 33W Magnetic Power Bank 10000 — What’s Not?

Wireless charging is limited to 7.5W

7.5W is really, really slow charging in 2025. Even for an iPhone.

On that note, the Xiaomi 33W Magnetic Power Bank 10000 may have the magnets to attach to iPhones with MagSafe, it doesn’t actually support the 15W MagSafe or Qi2 wireless charging standard. So it putters along at just 7.5W, which gives my iPhone 15 Pro 1% every 2 minutes. Throughout the 45 minutes or so I was allowing it to slowly charge up, neither my phone nor the power bank got hot, so there’s that. But I do think 7.5W is honestly way too slow for practical use, since most of the time you need a power bank is simply because you’ve been using your phone a bit too much, like when you’re out and about and need to up your battery percentage quickly.

Can be a touch too bulky

Can be a tad bulky.

To be entirely fair, the Xiaomi 33W Magnetic Power Bank is relatively compact and light for a 10,000mAh (or 37WHr) battery pack. It is however designed to be used while attached to the back of your iPhone. It is close to double the thickness of my iPhone 15 Pro, while being heavier. Not to mention the integrated cable also extends the overall length, making it somewhat unwieldy to have it attached to my phone when I am using it out and about. Combine that with the fact that I will have to keep it attached to my phone for quite a long while given the slow charging speed, the weight and size becomes quite a problem.

Xiaomi 165W Power Bank 10000 Specs

Xiaomi 33W Magnetic Power Bank 10000 — should you buy this?

The Xiaomi 33W Magnetic Power Bank 10000 is a pretty good power bank, all things considered.

The Xiaomi 33W Magnetic Power Bank 10000 is a power bank that’s pretty great overall, except when it’s doing wireless charging. The 33W outputs and rather fast recharging are all nice features to have, but I feel like Xiaomi should have added support for 15W Qi2 charging to make the wireless charging more viable than the current trickle it provides. If you don’t particularly need the wireless charging capability, the Xiaomi 33W Magnetic Power Bank will stay securely on the back of your iPhone while charging it at its maximum charging speed through the integrated cable. I would say that the RM129 price tag is passable, but within this price range, I would still pick the Xiaomi 165W Power Bank 10000 instead for its more versatile outputs.
