ASUS Vigour Backpack Review — a modern man’s essential

The ASUS Vigour Backpack is a testament to the fusion of style and functionality. Designed with the modern man in mind, this sleek and durable backpack offers a practical solution for carrying your daily essentials. Its minimalist aesthetic seamlessly blends with various outfits, making it a versatile companion for both work and leisure.

ASUS Vigour Backpack — What’s Good?

A Blend of Style and Sustainability

The Vigour Backpack’s appeal lies in its ability to strike a balance between style and practicality. Its minimalist design, characterized by clean lines and a streamlined silhouette, exudes a sense of sophistication. The durable, water-resistant PU leather construction looks sleek with clean lines, while ensuring your belongings remain protected from the elements.

Sustainable materials are used on the inside, with recycled PET fabric. ASUS claims six recycled plastic bottles are used per backpack, resulting in 100g of plastics saved, 54% less water, 76% less CO2 emissions and 80% less energy used during production. Pretty incredible, if you ask me.

Ample Storage for Your Essentials

Despite its compact appearance, the ASUS Vigour Backpack offers ample storage space to accommodate your daily essentials. The main compartment is designed to fit a 16-inch laptop, with a padded laptop compartment that ensures your device remains secure during transit. A thoughtful assortment of pockets and compartments inside provide organized storage for your other items.

With that said, I don’t think all 16-inch laptops will fit, as the narrow opening may snag on some wider 16-inch models. The easily accessible front pocket with its magnetic cover is also a joy to use. It’s really convenient. But it can also mean that it might be too easy for pickpockets to loot you. Well, that’s what the hidden pocket is for. But I wish you good luck using the hidden pocket, as anything that’s more substantial than some documents might become a literal pain in your back. Speaking of a pain in your back…

ASUS Vigour Backpack — What’s Not?

Narrow straps and non-breathable back

Unlike the wide straps of the ROG Ranger Gaming Backpack 16, the ASUS Vigour Backpack sports much narrower straps. They fit the look of a daily commute bag, but heavier loads may cause them to hurt your shoulders a little. They are quite well padded though to help distribute weight evenly and prevent that from happening. Next is the lack of any back padding. The PU leather construction means that it’s not breathable either, so carrying the ASUS Vigour Backpack for extended periods in warmer environments will result in quite an uncomfortable situation.

Now, I have to also mention that the ASUS Vigour Backpack isn’t exactly intended for full-day commuting. It’s an office bag. Sling it on when you exit your car, and drop it at your desk. Do the reverse at 5 PM. Or if you want to use it as a EDC bag of sorts when travelling, with light loads comprising of a few necessities. Like a handbag, but on your back, if you catch my drift. Used like that, it’s good. If your usual load involves heftier items, then this really isn’t the bag for you.

ASUS Vigour Backpack — Should you buy this?

The ASUS Vigour Backpack’s main attraction would definitely be its design. Its clean looks and water-resistant construction, with an aesthetic that doesn’t draw attention to itself. The various pockets and compartments are also great for organizing your items in this compact backpack. However, it is clearly not the most versatile of bags. It has a rather narrow opening, and the PU leather material means that there’s no stretching around larger items. For RM299, this won’t be the bag I get for my daily EDC, but I think it may be a great replacement for a handbag for the ladies, or for the men who want to replace their messenger bags with something that looks a bit less… DVD salesmen-esque.
